From the Desk of Mrs. Rogers
Dear Parents of the future leaders of America,
Welcome to Room 9. I am looking forward to being a part of a team that will take your child to a new level. Third grade is when your child will have to “change gears” from ‘learning to read’ to ‘reading to learn.’ It is a very challenging year for all students, I know, though, that here, at Downtown Elementary, they have had an outstanding foundation laid out for them from their very first day. From the point of view of the kids, the “work is hard,” and they know that the process continues. I am more than glad to be a part of this process.
I am also fully aware of what an honorable job I have been blessed with: touching the future of America.
I am looking forward to working with each of you, parents, and your, I’m sure, amazing 3rd graders. I think and I feel that this is going to be a great year.
Our expectations will be directly related to our search for excellence in all our fields of study: listening, speaking, writing and comprehension, spelling, effort, computation, and problem solving. Feel free to contact me any time. You are welcome in our classroom.
Sincerely, Mrs. Rogers
Our Room’s Rules for Success
- Raise your hand before you speak.
- Follow directions the first time without negotiation.
- Show respect for people and property.
- Use your time wisely.
- Be responsible for your own actions at all times.
- Start each day with a positive attitude.
Your Student’s Planner
Please check your student’s planner for homework assignments and other important information. They must be initialed by a parent each day, which means that you have checked to see that your student’s homework is both completed and done to your satisfaction!
Attendance Counts!
Please see that your student arrives at school on time and that he/she only misses when an illness occurs. As teachers we are responsible for teaching your child more and more in a very limited amount of time. Time away from the classroom severely hampers our success and that of your student.
Our theme: “Reach for the stars.”
