Welcome to the 1st Grade!
Dear Parents:
Hello! I am so excited to have your child in my class this year! I look forward to talking with you throughout the year. I am available before and after school, or by e-mail. Just a little about me. I have been teaching for fifteen years. My e-mail address is brakerc@bcsd.com
Grade 1 Academic Goals
The academic goals include the following:
- In Math: students will master basic facts. They will be able to solve age-appropriate word problems. All students will be exposed to beginning algebra and geometry.
- In Language Arts: students will read and analyze words, study whole language as well as phonics. They will also practice basic writing forms.
- In Science, students will learn about the living things. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the Science Fair.
- In Social Studies: they will learn about rules, and our country.
Homework
Students will receive homework Monday through Thursday. Please, have your student return the homework packet on Friday morning.
